O'Keeffe Exhibition at Denver Art Museum

Rams Head and Blue Morning Glory, George O'Keeffe, 1938, Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

Are you familiar with Katsinam Art? The exhibition Georgia O'Keeffe in New Mexico opens February 10 - April 16, 2003 at the Denver Art Museum. Designed to explore her deep respect for the distinctive and diverse cultures of northern New Mexico, the exhibit features some of O'Keeffe's rarely seen Hopi katsinma thu paintings.

In addition, a course  Georgia O'Keeffe: A Life Shaped By the Southwest and a lecture on Hopi Katsinam Art by Hopi Fiber  artist Ramona Sakiestewa are being presented.  I definitely would like to attend the lecture on Hopi Katsinam, but alas, I am currently many miles away from my home state of Colorado.  Hope you have a chance to go.  Go Broncos!

Speaking of O'Keeffe iconography, here is an interesting contemporary adaptation of O'Keeffe's  Rams Head/Morning Glory theme  in a photograph by Michael O'Brian posted in  JPGmag..
